The new version of Jack Reacher features a different and more book-accurate version of the character compared with Tom Cruise's version of the character in the 2012 film. It is easy to assume that the second season will follow the same pattern of production and release as the first, as the filming for season 1 took place in a rough period of five months between mid-April to late July.
With Reacher now available on Prime, wiping out the memory of Tom Cruise's more diminutive Reacher from the movies, the question of whether it can follow in Cruise's footsteps with an immediate follow-up are inevitable. Other actors in the series include iZombie's Malcolm Goodwin and What We Do in the Shadows' Harvey Guillén. Killing Floor is book one of Child's novel series and it is safe to assume that season 2 will cover Die Trying which is set in Chicago. The second season of Reacher will follow the plot of one of Lee Child's other Reacher books. It would be reasonable to think that the second season of Reacher could land in late or early 2024, based on Amazon Prime's release schedule having a year or two gap between each season of their shows. The critic reviews of the first season have been positive, so there is a good chance that it will be renewed. Lee Child, the author of the original novels the character and series are based on, is very supportive of Ritchson. According to Ritchson, the series will do one book per season of Reacher, meaning there should be multiple seasons in total. With the release of Reacher on Amazon's Prime TV, prospects for the future seasons of the series are not far off. With Reacher's love interest in season 1, there are plenty of chances to bring her back for a tryst or two. There are a lot of reasons for her to come back if ever there is a chance. The novel series doesn't have a character until book six, Without a Fail.
There is a chance that some of the characters may return for season 2. Killing Floor is the first book in Child's series and the main character arrives at Margrave, Georgia.
Jack Reacher is an ex-military police officer who wanders through the city to the village and ends up in trouble. With a promising cast, Reacher is shaping up to be quite the release for the streaming service. Compared to Cruise's Reacher, Ritchson's look for this new live-action iteration of the character is more novel-accurate.
The first season of Reacher ended with Reacher walking away from Margrave and leaving his experiences behind. As he has aged down in the series compared to Lee Child, there might be plans for him to return. He works with a police officer and a detective to solve the case. He was arrested for a murder he did not commit.
There are no official announcements for Reacher season 2.
The first season of Reacher ended on February 4, 2022.
