Maeve brings Butcher more V-24 in the fifth episode of "The Last Time to Look on This World of lies." Queen Maeve/Maggie Shaw blackmailed Homelander into leaving Butcher and his crew alone at the end of the second season. Maeve was kidnapped by Black Noir after Homelander smelled Butcher's scent on her. The latter gives its user powers for 24 hours, leveling the playing field.
It will be interesting to see if Butcher and Maeve's indiscretion plays a role in the upcoming episodes. Theromance feels like it was written into the season to move the plot forward with Homelander.
The writers talked about that moment as grimy and desperate. Billy Bob and Halle Berry hook up in Monster's Ball, which is grimy because they are both mourning deaths. There was a story about The Boys' Wonder Woman being committed to a center. It could change his perspective if Butcher develops feelings for Maeve.
Kripke explained that moment between Butcher and Maeve in a recent interview. Kripke said fans should be concerned as Maeve is in a tight spot. The pair get drunk and have sex after being defeated. It explodes in this hookup.
