The rest of the characters gradually warm up to him as the series goes on, and he gains an actual human best friend by the end of the season.

Although Peacemaker was introduced to the world in the pages of Fightin' 5 #40 by writer Joe Gill and artist Pat Boyette in 1966, if you were to ask some of the most hardcore of DC Comics fans who Peacemaker was before 2021, the answer would most likely be no.

Thankfully for new fans of Peacemaker, there is no need to wonder if there will be more, as it was confirmed on February 20th, 2022, that a second season had been ordered.

It's one of the best qualities about the character of Peacemaker that no one knew who he was or anything about him, it gave James Gunn the freedom to do whatever he wanted with the character and make whatever changes he felt necessary.

The last scene of the first season shows Peacemaker sitting on his front porch with Eagly and August "Auggie" Smith watching the sunset. Adebayo may have come clean to the public about Task Force X at the end of season one, but she has not had people killed for much, much less. It's been known for a long time that during the filming of Suicide Squad, James Gunn wouldn't allow John Cena to read any of the old Peacemaker comics or research his character at all because his version of the character was completely different.

They had good reasons to believe that the team would never return to the silver screen, after the cinematic failure of 2016's Suicide Squad, directed by David Ayer. His simple yet bizarrely complex moral code, no-nonsense approach to deadly situations, and complete lack of any filter between his brain and mouth made him one of the most instantly likable and hateable characters as he toed the line between hero and villain.

Christopher Smith, who is also known as Peacemaker, began the first season of his new show alone, with his only real friend being his bald eagle, Eagly. With the way the first season ended, one has to wonder what will happen to the off-the-wall superhero.

Not only that, but Nhut Le's character Judomaster is still very much alive, as is Viola Davis' character from Suicide Squad. 2 swooped in to save the team by crafting a sequel with a brand-new team that endedeared itself to casual and DC Comics fans alike in a way that the 2016 Suicide Squad failed to do. Peacemaker is here to stay because of the success of the first season of the spin-off show. If you were to ask the same question after 2021, you would most likely get the same answer. James Gunn has the freedom to do whatever he wants as long as he uses characters that no one has ever heard of.

In Peacemaker season 2, we might see characters like Egg Fu, Orca, or Snowflame, who are powered by cocaine. Adrian Chase, Freddie Stroma's character, is not sure what number he holds in the order of Peacemaker's best friends. In 2021, it will be like an actual DC Comics superhero. As August Smith continues to haunt Peacemaker's thoughts and force him to question every decision he makes, we will likely see more of him in the future. There will always be an inevitable demand for more, and that is a mark of true success.

Both Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Films gave the go-ahead to greenlight a spin-off series starring John Cena's character Peacemaker.

When it comes to characters like Vigilante and Judomaster, they can be considered completely different characters because they are so far removed from their comic book counterparts. James Gunn showed in bothSuicide Squad and Peacemaker that anything is possible. All of them have had little to no exposure outside of the comics and parodies.
